Privacy policy

Your answers are about your family, so this page says plainly what is stored, where, and who can see it.

Last updated 4 October 2026.

In short

  • Your answers and notes stay in your browser unless you create an account or share your plan.
  • We do not sell your information, show ads or use advertising trackers.
  • We record anonymous usage, such as which topics are opened, to improve the app. It is not tied to your name or email.

What stays in your browser

Without an account, everything you enter is kept in your browser’s local storage on your own device: your answers, your private notes, the names you type for yourself and your partner, the areas you chose to focus on, and your light or dark setting. None of it is sent to us.

“Wipe all data” in the app’s menu erases the answers stored in your browser. Clearing your browser’s site data does the same.

If you create an account

An account is optional. If you create one, we store your email address, and a copy of your answers, notes and the names you entered, so that you can open them on another device. Your password goes to our sign-in provider, Supabase, which stores it in hashed form; we never see it. Access rules in the database let each account read only its own answers.

If you share your plan

When signed in, you can create a read-only link to your plan. Creating one stores a snapshot containing the name on the plan, the options you chose, any answer you wrote in your own words, and what you flagged to discuss. Private notes are never included. Anyone who has the link can view the snapshot, so share it only with people you want to see it. You can revoke the link at any time, which deletes the snapshot.

The export file on the Compare page is different: it is a full copy of your answers, including notes, saved to your own device. It goes nowhere unless you send it to someone.

If you send feedback

The Give feedback form stores your message, the kind of feedback you chose, the page you sent it from and your country. Your email address is stored only if you type one in, and is used only to reply to you. Your answers and notes are not attached.

Anonymous usage records

To see what is useful and what is broken, the site records events as you use it. Each record holds:

  • what happened (for example a page viewed, a topic opened, an option picked, a decision marked) and when;
  • the page, and the topic and the position of the option where that applies;
  • a random visitor id kept in your browser, and a random id for the visit;
  • words typed into the app’s search box, shortened to 40 characters with symbols removed;
  • whether the screen is phone, tablet or desktop sized, and whether it is your first visit;
  • the website you came from (its domain only) and your country, taken from the network connection.

These records never contain your name, your email, your notes or anything you write in your own words, and they are not linked to an account. Your IP address is used for a moment to limit abuse and is not stored with them. If your browser’s Do Not Track setting is on, this recording does nothing.

Separately, the site uses Vercel Web Analytics to count page views and the same kinds of actions (with the topic and option position only, never search text). It does not use cookies.

Cookies

The site does not set advertising or tracking cookies. It uses your browser’s local storage for the things described above, including keeping you signed in.

Who processes data for us

  • Vercel hosts the site, counts page views and stores the anonymous usage records. Like any host, it handles your IP address in order to serve pages.
  • Supabase runs sign-in and stores account data: your email, your synced answers and any shared snapshots.

We do not share your information with anyone else, and we do not sell it.

Your choices

  • Use the app without an account, so nothing you enter leaves your device.
  • Erase your browser’s copy with “Wipe all data”, and revoke a shared link whenever you like.
  • Turn on Do Not Track in your browser to switch off our usage recording.

To have an account and everything stored with it deleted, or to ask what we hold about you, write to hello@raisingyourchild.com.

Depending on where you live, the law may give you further rights over your personal information, such as access, correction and deletion.

Children

The site is written for adults who are raising or planning to raise a child. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes

If what we store or how we use it changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. See also the terms of use and the disclaimer.
