## Politics and worldview: what are the options?

1. **Keep politics away from children**: You do not discuss politics around the child.
2. **Present several views**: You explain how different people see an issue.
3. **Share ours, tolerate dissent**: You say what you believe and accept that the child may disagree.
4. **Raise them in our worldview**: You bring the child up to share your beliefs.

## Politics and worldview: what does the evidence say?

**Your call.** No outcome evidence picks a winner. Preference, culture, money and logistics decide.

## What else is worth knowing?

Parents pass on their view of the world whether or not they intend to. Some keep politics away from children; others share their views or raise children within them. Partners with different politics need to agree on how they will handle disagreement in front of the child.

## Questions to ask each other

- How much do our political views show at home?
- How would we feel if our child disagreed with us?
- What would we do when relatives raise politics?
